The WSET is the global leader in wine education; providing Ofqual regulated qualifications globally. It’s a privilege to be associated with such a global giant in wine education. 

Currently, The Bacchus School of Wine offers Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Wines. Levels 1 and 2 are perfect for both enthusiasts and those in the trade. Level 3 is an advanced course and although it will enhance the credentials of anyone working in wine, it will also offer the most riveting insight into the world of wine which will elevate any enthusiasts ability to select wine, discuss it and, of course, their enjoyment of it.

Your Course Options
Level 1 in Wines

Level 1 in Wines, as you might imagine, is the ideal place to start your wine obsession. It’s perfect for those who enjoy their wine but, also, want to get to grips with some theory behind viticulture, winemaking, key grape varieties and wine styles, as well as food and wine pairing principles!

During Level 1, you will taste 9 wines which will showcase the world’s most significant grape varieties and broad wine styles.

Duration: At Bacchus School of Wine, we run our Level 1 course over 2 half-days, across two consecutive Sundays between 1pm-4pm (totalling a minimum of 6 teaching hours). You will receive a course textbook to accompany your studies.

To round off the final half-day, you will enjoy a food and wine pairing masterclass before sitting your short multiple choice exam. On successful completion, you will receive your WSET qualification certificate and pin badge.

Level 1 courses run over two half days, on consecutive Sunday afternoons between 1-4pm. Our next blocks are listed below:

Level 2 in Wines

Level 2 in Wines is a significant step up from Level 1. The course is centred around grape varieties and you will learn about the varying wine styles that can be produced from them, along with the most significant regions around the world they are associated with. This course is designed for keen wine enthusiasts and those beginning a career in the wine trade. 

At the end of the final day for Level 2, you will sit a multiple-choice closed-book exam, lasting 60 minutes.

Duration: Level 2 runs over 3 full days on consecutive Sundays between 10:30am-5pm (with a minimum of 18 teaching hours). For successful completion of this course, we recommend an additional 12 hours home study for Level 2 using the materials provided.

Level 3 in Wines

Level 3 in Wines is huge (but in all the best ways). This course is organised by countries and regions. This course is designed for wine lovers who have completed Level 2 and want more; whether an enthusiast of if in the trade. 

At the end of the final day, there are three components of the exam: 120 minutes will be given to complete the multiple choice exam and a short written response paper. To conclude, you will also sit a  blind tasting exam of two wines (now you’re talking)!

Duration: Level 3 runs over 6 full days on consecutive Sundays between 10:30am-5pm (with a minimum of 36 teaching hours). To get the most out of this course, 48 hours home reading and wine tasting is recommended over the 6 weeks using the materials provided.
