Rebel Tastings

Viva Vegan Tasting

It comes as quite a surprise to many non vegans that wine (made from grapes right…) is not always vegetarian or vegan friendly. This is essentially down to the ‘fining’ process many wines go through at the end of the production which seeks to, among other things, clarify the wine. The process traditionally uses fish innards and meat proteins (well I never…)

There are, however, many vegan and vegetarian friendly wines on the market. But… is there any difference in quality. No! And at Bacchus we strive to highlight this with a selection of superb wines that, whether vegan or not, are simply delicious and we urge you to try them immediately!

ThinK Wine Group create low sugar, low calorie and vegan friendly wines
including Prosecco and sparkling rose.

Viva Vegan tasting includes:

  • A professional 2 hour tasting
  • A welcome drink: We’re very proud to be the only wine tasting company to be supplied directly by ThinK Wine Group for their vegan friendly Prosecco
  • 6 still wines (3 white, 3 red)

*Homemade vegan nibbles can be added for £5 pp

Biodynamic Tasting

Fattoria La Vialla is one of our biodynamic suppliers based predominantly in Tuscany, Italy. We get our wines direct from them and we love them so much we often feature at least of of their wines in our other tastings too.

The original organic movement! Biodynamic farming has been serious business since the 1920s. Essentially this movement centres around the principle that the vineyard is one entity, one organism, that relies on whatever being taken, being replaced. Biodynamic farmers deploy all the usual organic principles we’re used to; natural compost along with a ban on pesticides for example, along with some extra (and somewhat quirky) practises. A planting calendar based on lunar activity dictates what activities can be carried out when on the vineyard while, and wait for it…, cow horns are ritually used as vessels to stuff manure in before then being buried in the ground. Indeed the whole movement is viewed as more spiritualistic and philosophical rather than a simple practise to adhere to. You’d be forgiven for thinking this might all seem a little ‘hippyish’ but it’s worth noting that this movement has some serious players following it such as Domaine Romanee Conti who retail their White Burgundy for upwards of £3000.00 There are many more questions to answer about this growing wave of winemaking so grab a glass and get tasting!

Biodynamic Tasting includes:

  • A 2 hour professional tasting
  • A welcome drink (biodynamic fizz anybody?)
  • 6 glasses of the world’s finest biodynamic wines, typically 3 white and 3 red

*Add an assortment of light bites and nibbles to your tasting experience for £5pp
