Currently, Bacchus School of Wine offers both Levels 1 and 2 in Wines which are perfect starting points for both enthusiasts and professionals who wish to embark on a journey of wine exploration and discovery.

Your Course Options
Level 1 in Wines
Level 1 in Wines, as you might imagine, is the ideal place to start your wine obsession. It’s perfect for those who enjoy their wine but also really want to get to grips with some theory behind viticulture, winemaking, key grape varieties, wine styles as well as food and wine pairing principles!
During Level 1, you will taste 9 wines which will showcase the world’s most significant grape varieties and broad wine styles that are typically produced from these varieties.
Duration: At Bacchus School of Wine, we run our Level 1 course over 2 half-days, over two consecutive Sundays between 1pm-4pm (totalling a minimum of 6 teaching hours). You will receive a course textbook and work book to accompany your studies.
To round off the final half-day, you will sit a multiple-choice closed-book exam, lasting 45 minutes. On successful completion, you will receive your WSET qualification certificate and pin badge.

Level 2 in Wines
Level 2 in Wines is a significant step up from Level 1. The course is centred around grape varieties and you will learn about the varying wine styles that can be produced from them, along with the most significant regions around the world they are associated with. This course, however, is still designed for keen wine enthusiasts as much as it is for those working within the industry.
At the end of the final day for Level 2, you will sit a multiple-choice closed-book exam, lasting 60 minutes.
Duration: Level 2 runs over 3 consecutive Sundays between 10:30am-5pm (with a minimum of 16 teaching hours). For successful completion of this course, we recommend an additional 12 hours home study for Level 2 using the materials provided.

Your Study Dates
The following dates apply to courses running at MerseyMade, Liverpool.
Level 1 courses run over two half days over consecutive Sunday afternoons. Select one block from the released dates below:
- Level 1 in Wines: X2 Sunday afternoons between 1pm-4pm on the 18th & 25th September 2022
Level 2 courses run over three full days over consecutive Sundays. Select one block from the released dates below:
- Level 2 in Wines: X3 Sundays between 10:30am-5pm on the 8th, 15th & 22nd January 2022
Additional dates for Levels 1 and 2 in Wines at MerseyMade for October and beyond will be released shortly. Feel free to enquire about future dates if the current dates released aren’t suitable for you.
